Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert ‘Do Something,’ And They Just May Get Rewarded For It

Believe it or not, in between his time flirting with Adam Levine on NBC‘s The Voice, making number one records, and DWT (drinking while tweeting), Blake Shelton actually does a lot of good in the world. (No, really!) In fact, he and wife Miranda Lambert are being honored for their philanthropy in VH1′s upcoming Do Something Awards. What did they er– do, and what other couples are nominated? Keep reading for all the details.

When you think of Blake Shelton, a few things probably come to mind, and we’re willing to bet that philanthropy isn’t among them (at least not in the top 5).
At the end of August, that just may change!
Shelton and wife, Miranda Lambert, are nominated as a couple for their charity work in VH1′s 2012 Do Something Awards.
And no, it wasn’t for Miranda’s tireless efforts to let the world know how much she despises Chris Brown, or her rant against…what’s his name again? Oh, yeah…Eric Church, defending artists who’ve gotten their start on reality competitions.
This time, the chart-topping country couple is being recognized for their benefit concert, which raised a whopping $70,000 for a veterans’ program and an animal shelter in Oklahoma.
Other so-called power couples nominated in the category are Jay-Z and Beyonce, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, Mariah Carey and Nick Carey Cannon, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia di Rossi, and Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum.

Country star Miranda Lambert announced last week she needed to cancel or postpone a few shows, and now that break is being extended.
According to The Press-Register, Lambert's been ordered by her doctors to stay on "vocal rest" through July 25 due to "overextending her voice" while on tour.
Dates being rescheduled include shows in Georgia, Pennsylvania and Alabama. The Grammy-winner was also supposed to perform July 6 at the Jam in the Valley festival near Buffalo but had to cancel her appearance.
"I'm so sorry to disappoint the fans that have already bought tickets to see me," the 28-year-old singer told CBS. "I'm taking care of my voice and I can't wait to get on the road again and bring you a hell of a show."
The good news for Central New York fans is that her "On Fire" tour date at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino Event Center is still on as scheduled. In fact, Lambert's show in Verona, N.Y. on Thursday, July 26 will be her first coming back from the break.
Though her husband Blake Shelton won't be on the bill, she will be joined on stage by the Pistol Annies, her side project. The country trio is made up of Hippie Annie (Ashley Monroe), Holler Annie (Angaleena Presley) and Lone Star Annie (Lambert).
