Country star Miranda Lambert set to play Regina

Country star Miranda Lambert set to play Regina

For Miranda Lambert, it's all about balance.
The 28-year-old has jumped into the deep end of the country music pool with a hectic life that includes touring, recording and songwriting. Throw in a side project with The Pistol Annies and a high-profile marriage to Blake Shelton and it's amazing that Lambert doesn't find her life overwhelming at times.
"It's my life, it's my normal. It's not weird for me. It's what I do," Lambert said in a recent telephone interview from Fayetteville, Ark. "I have a good balance now of how many days I tour and how many days I'm home and how many days I do media. It's a good balance.
"There's a regular life and then there's a tour life."
That balance includes a home in Tishomingo, Okla., that goes a long way in keeping both Lambert and Shelton cool, calm and collected.
"You know, it's kind of weird but we deal with it pretty good," said Lambert, who will be bringing her On Fire Tour to the Brandt Centre on Friday night. "We live in the middle of nowhere so when I get home with Blake, we kind of stay out of the scene.
"We get enough time to be normal so that kind of balances it all out."
Lambert, who got her first break in the business by finishing third in the 2003 season of Nashville Star, hit the ground running in 2005 with the release of Kerosene, the first of four No. 1 albums. Next came Crazy ExGirlfriend (2007) and Revolution (2009) with her current album, Four The Record (2011), still selling well after 10 months.
The On Fire Tour, which opened Jan. 12 in Rockford, Ill., is nearing the end of the line
- Friday's show in Regina will be the 75th stop, with the tour scheduled to end on Oct. 6 in Pelham, Ala.
Ticket sales have been brisk and the three singles from Four The Record have been receiving major radio airplay across North America. Baggage Claim peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard charts and was followed by Over You, which became Lambert's third No. 1 single. Fastest Girl In Town, Lambert's current single, has already broken into the Top 20 and has the potential to become a serious hit.
The only bump in the road occurred in mid-July when Lambert was forced to reschedule a handful of dates to take some vocal rest.
After two weeks of rest, Lambert returned to the tour with no lingering problems. When asked if she needs to treat her voice like an instrument, Lambert agreed wholeheartedly.
"Absolutely. I hadn't had any breaks and I was touring really hard all year so finally my body said, 'All right, you need some home time,'" said Lambert, who appeared at the 2010 and 2008 Craven Country Jamboree.
"I'm good. I just needed a little down time. I was runnin' too hard."
In addition to the tour, Lambert's schedule in the past year has also included a role on the NBC drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and an album with The Pistol Annies.
For Law & Order: SVU, Lambert portrayed an actress who claimed to be sexually assaulted by a reality show producer. Although she earned rave reviews for her appearance, Lambert isn't about to pursue an acting career full-time.
"I really don't have any interest in acting, to be honest with you," Lambert said. "I just wanted to do that one thing because I'm a huge fan of the show. I defi-nitely had a blast doing it but I just want to keep working on my music. Music is the No. 1 priority for me."
As for the Pistol Annies, Lambert described the creation of the band as a stroke of good fortune. She was writing songs with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley and everything was going so well they felt the need to form a band.
With the Pistol Annies performing on The On Fire Tour, it's safe to say that Lambert is having twice the fun on the road.
"I am. I just love it. With the girls being out with me, that just changes everything," Lambert said. "Having them out makes everything just so much more fun and it's like a big slumber party. When they're not here I realize how lonely I get.
"It's not like I planned on having a girl band, but we started writing these songs and it just had to happen. They're my best friends and it just had to happen. So we made it happen and now it's taken off. It's so much fun."

Miranda Lambert working overtime with Pistiol Annies

Miranda Lambert working overtime with Pistiol Annies; ready to 'Rock the Rapids'

Tonight, when the week-long Rock the Rapids 2012 festival begins in downtown, Miranda Lambert will open for herself. Yes, that's right.
The country star will perform with her side project the Pistol Annies as the opening act to her headline performance.
Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe, the other members of the Pistol Annies, sit at the side of the stage during Miranda's set and like to dance along to the songs.
"Every time we go out, and I watch her on stage, I feel like I'm a teenager at a rock concert," said Angaleena Presley, a.k.a. "Holler Annie."
"It never gets old to me. It's just as amazing the millionth time as the first time."
Amazing is a great way to describe the success of the Pistol Annies.
The national audience first heard of the band on a televised industry awards show last year, and from there it blossomed into one of country music's most unusual success stories.
As the story goes, Miranda and singer/songwriter Ashley Monroe were working on some songs, when Monroe called Presley to email her some of her latest material because Miranda wanted to put a band together.
That was two years ago, right in the middle of Lambert's skyrocketing success.
Immediately the three clicked, claimed alter egos -- Lambert is "Lone Star Annie and Monroe is "Hippie Annie" -- and started recording songs.
"It's kind of surreal because we met each other and we starred writing these songs, and everything happened so organically," Presley said.
Their biggest hit, without much radio airplay, is the in-your-face, roots country and raw "Hell on Heels," the same song they played on TV.
It shocked the industry.
Since then, it's been so much fun, Presley said.
"We're still like three high school girls having a slumber party," she added.
So, what's Miranda like?
"Oh my gosh, she is so sweet. If you didn't know she was famous you wouldn't know she was famous," Presley said.
"She is a down-home, country Texas girl. She loves to be outside, and she is very sweet and considerate, She is always the first person to send a thank you card."
And they have great chemistry, too. Presley is from Kentucky, and Monroe is from East Tennessee.
"I feel like they understand every part of me," Presley said. "The artist side, the silly side, the side that goes into a funk and have my private time. Its a blessing to be a part of this whole family."
When it comes to being together on stage, the end result can be a little crazy.
She said fans can expect "a lot of sass, and maybe some hair pulling and cat fighting, and some really good honest music that will hopefully make them think."
Oh, and they will raise hell, too.
"Yeah, we like to raise some hell...in high heels that is."

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert ‘Do Something,’ And They Just May Get Rewarded For It

Believe it or not, in between his time flirting with Adam Levine on NBC‘s The Voice, making number one records, and DWT (drinking while tweeting), Blake Shelton actually does a lot of good in the world. (No, really!) In fact, he and wife Miranda Lambert are being honored for their philanthropy in VH1′s upcoming Do Something Awards. What did they er– do, and what other couples are nominated? Keep reading for all the details.

When you think of Blake Shelton, a few things probably come to mind, and we’re willing to bet that philanthropy isn’t among them (at least not in the top 5).
At the end of August, that just may change!
Shelton and wife, Miranda Lambert, are nominated as a couple for their charity work in VH1′s 2012 Do Something Awards.
And no, it wasn’t for Miranda’s tireless efforts to let the world know how much she despises Chris Brown, or her rant against…what’s his name again? Oh, yeah…Eric Church, defending artists who’ve gotten their start on reality competitions.
This time, the chart-topping country couple is being recognized for their benefit concert, which raised a whopping $70,000 for a veterans’ program and an animal shelter in Oklahoma.
Other so-called power couples nominated in the category are Jay-Z and Beyonce, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, Mariah Carey and Nick Carey Cannon, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia di Rossi, and Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum.

Miranda Lambert cancels concerts for vocal rest

Miranda Lambert cancels concerts for 'vocal rest'; Turning Stone show still on schedule

ent_071212_miranda_lambert_acms.jpg

Country star Miranda Lambert announced last week she needed to cancel or postpone a few shows, and now that break is being extended.
According to The Press-Register, Lambert's been ordered by her doctors to stay on "vocal rest" through July 25 due to "overextending her voice" while on tour.
Dates being rescheduled include shows in Georgia, Pennsylvania and Alabama. The Grammy-winner was also supposed to perform July 6 at the Jam in the Valley festival near Buffalo but had to cancel her appearance.
"I'm so sorry to disappoint the fans that have already bought tickets to see me," the 28-year-old singer told CBS. "I'm taking care of my voice and I can't wait to get on the road again and bring you a hell of a show."
The good news for Central New York fans is that her "On Fire" tour date at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino Event Center is still on as scheduled. In fact, Lambert's show in Verona, N.Y. on Thursday, July 26 will be her first coming back from the break.
Though her husband Blake Shelton won't be on the bill, she will be joined on stage by the Pistol Annies, her side project. The country trio is made up of Hippie Annie (Ashley Monroe), Holler Annie (Angaleena Presley) and Lone Star Annie (Lambert).

Miranda Lambert guitar

Miranda Lambert guitar, autographs will go to highest eBay bidder

country music star Miranda Lambert has long professed her love for her pooches and this week, the singer is raising money for dogs in need. On June 22, 2012, Miranda Lambert will perform at the annual Cause for the Paws, an event that raises money for her foundation, Muttnation.

Contributions for Cause for the Paws are usually limited to those who can attend the event in Texas, but this year, Miranda Lambert is relying on a little help from eBay and a lot of her celebrity friends. A charitable auction has been set up on behalf of Muttnation and country music fans willing to bid to the end can walk away with some pretty cool swag.
One of the most eye-catching items up for bid on eBay is a guitar, customized for Miranda Lambert's award-winning song, The House That Built Me. The jewel-accented guitar features a collage of photos of Miranda Lambert, some of the lyrics from The House That Built Me and the crossed guns logo from Miranda Lambert's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend album cover and her website. In the first 48 hours of the auction, bids on the guitar top $400, but considering the winning bidder can also request Miranda Lambert's autograph on the guitar, the bidding will surely go much higher.
Another cool memento to snag in the eBay auction is a drum head signed by Miranda Lambert and all of her band members. For anyone looking for an awesome conversation piece for the home, this would be an incredible win.
Fans who love Texas as much as Miranda Lambert does might also find her Texas bundle of interest. The lot includes Miranda Lambert's autographed, signature Texas hat, the tank shirt Miranda Lambert wore at her first performance at Texas' historic Gruene Hall -now autographed, an autographed copy of the Texas Monthly magazine featuring Miranda Lambert on the cover and Miranda Lambert's independent CD.
In addition to the incredible merchandise offered by Miranda Lambert, many other celebrities have jumped in on the Cause for the Paws action. The eBay auction also includes items from country's Lee Ann Womack, Carrie Underwood, Chuck Wicks, Toby Keith, Julianne Hough and Faith Hill as well as items from several other celebrities.
Cause for the Paws raises money and awareness for Muttnation, the foundation begun by Miranda Lambert to help better the lives of animals. Muttnation builds animal shelters, rehabilitates sick animals, reduces euthanasia of health animals, educates people about pet adoption and pet care, trains shelter dogs as service animals and much more.
To bid on the Cause for the Paws eBay auction, interested fans must bid by June 24th. To donate to Muttnation, visit Muttnation Foundation online.
